World Domination

I host a once a month gaming night at my house.

I grew up playing games like Super Mario, Contra, Risk, Axis and Allies. I like baseball, football and the olympics. In high school, I programmed a game on my TI-85 that was passed around school until nearly everyone was playing my game.

I love playing games so much that I host a once a month game night at my house.  It’s normally a bunch of guys eating great snacks and playing Carcasonne, Settlers of Catan, or another strategy game until way too late.

In each game, the rules are different, but the goal is always the same:
World Domination!

Do you know that this is actually a biblically principle?

God’s first command to us in Genesis 1:28 was to “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Jesus reiterated this in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”I believe he wants us to work towards total world domination.  I love that. It’s built into the very fabric of who we are.  The question is “Will rule it for our own purposes or for His?”

If I’m honest, sometimes I try to rule the world for my purposes.  I start building the Kingdom of Brian.  I like being in charge.  I love influencing people.  Unfortunately when I’m in charge things revolve around me and I become inward focused.  I don’t care about others.

Imagine if we had a world filled with people who were not focused on building their own kingdoms.  What would it look like if we were all focused on building the Kingdom of God?

I believe that if we can influence the next generation of leaders with this vision, we could change the world.  But realistically, we’re going to start smaller.

There are 100,000 students on the 32 college campuses in Northern MN and Northwest WI. We are work on 5 of them (BSU, CSS, LSC, UMD, UWS)

There are 100,000 students on the 32 college campuses in Northern MN and Northwest WI.  I estimate that when you combine the Christian ministries and churches reaching out to to these campuses, we are reaching approximately 1%.  Without Christ, these 100,000 students will keep working towards their own version of world domination.

A friend of mine was visiting us this past week. She told us the story about an employee that was fired because she was lying and cheating her employer. In her defense the college student said “I guess that’s just something that plagues my generation.”

That’s not what I want for this generation!

We’re going to do our best to reach the 100,000 students in Northern MN & Northwest WI.  When you see a college student in your neighborhood, or if you know a student headed off to college would you partner with us by encouraging them,  pray for them, or maybe even mentor them?

They need to get plugged into a christian community that is challenging them to live out the great commission of world domination!

Great article! Those very same verses came up in a book I was reading and were emphasizing the same point. I believe the same vision is occurring in Ireland. The trick is to find all the allies and get them on the same page. Thus, my own mission.

    Cheers Brian!

Thanks Mike! I’m glad to hear about the work of God in Ireland in you. Did Sandi ever tell you about the research paper she did on the work of God in Ireland for her class at Wheaton this spring? If not, I should have her send it to you!

  2. Thanks for influencing this generation for Christ!
